Established Convenience Store – Professional Introduction

This convenience store needed help funding some refurbishment.

Opportunity:

An established convenience store in the heart of the local community had converted their store room into a cafe and was looking for working capital to help finalise the refurbishments.

Approach:

Bathgate were introduced to the client by their bank who had supported the business with a £25k loan and extended their overdraft by an additional £5k to support the building work and equipment costs. They approached the bank for an additional £10k to cover the cost of the flooring, CCTV and signage who in turn asked whether Bathgate would be interested in supporting. We visited the client with the relationship manager from the bank and took a look at the premises and chatted with the proprietor about her plans, level of personal investment and vision for the future.

Solution:

In a matter of days, we had agreed on a £12k sale and leaseback over 3 years via Bathgate’s own book facility, taking a personal guarantee from the business owner and over the unencumbered assets within the business such as catering equipment and vehicle.
